Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, today announced the promotion of Frank McGuigan to Executive Vice President, Operations. McGuigan joined Transplace via its acquisition of SCO Logistics in April 2011, where he was President and CEO. Most recently, McGuigan was senior vice president of contract logistics for Transplace.
“Frank complements Transplace’s strong capabilities in operations and supply chain management, and his strong leadership enhances our executive team in a time of record growth and profits. His promotion continues the expectation for even greater success and market share across North America,” said Transplace President George Abernathy. “Since Frank joined Transplace, he has successfully integrated the SCO Logistics’ office operations and customers into Transplace’s service and technology platforms, while increasing our contract logistics business and growing our organization. With the success that Transplace has experienced from Frank’s leadership, I am pleased to have him join the executive team where the company can fully employ the skills and talent he has to offer.”
McGuigan brings more than 20 years of logistics experience in executive leadership, sales and operations to Transplace. His career achievements have been focused on the development and implementation of value-based logistics solutions across the supply chain for Fortune 500 companies. He currently has profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for all of Transplace’s third party logistics and software as a service (SaaS) customer relationships.
In 2006, McGuigan joined SCO Logistics as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing and was quickly promoted to President. He developed and successfully implemented a logistics product-based strategy. Mr. McGuigan reorganized and rebranded the company to support this strategy, and as a result, the company became profitable for the first time in its history – quickly growing the logistics revenue by more than 250 percent.
Prior to SCO Logistics, he was the commercial leader for three divisions of Penske Logistics. McGuigan led the development and growth of the Transportation Management System for Penske, and was recognized with several awards, including the GE Achieving Customer Excellence Award.
McGuigan has also held leadership roles at Matlack, Inc. and Kerr-Norton Steamship Agency. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt, a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science in transportation and logistics, and he has also completed graduate work at Pennsylvania State University. Beginning in 1992, for almost a decade, McGuigan served in the United States Naval Reserve.
