Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, today announced that Transplace Chemical Logistics, a specialized division of Transplace, has been accepted into the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC’s) Responsible Care® Partnership Program. The admission further supports the third party logistics (3PL) provider’s commitment to enabling the safe handling and security of chemicals as they are distributed or managed externally.
Responsible Care is the ACC’s comprehensive health, safety, security and environmental performance improvement initiative. Its mission is to promote continual environmental, health, safety and sustainability (EHS&S) performance improvement throughout the chemical industry supply chain. Participation in the Responsible Care Program is a condition of membership for ACC members and Responsible Care Partner companies, all of which have made CEO-level commitments to uphold the program elements.
“We are proud to welcome Transplace Chemical Logistics to our family of now more than 100 Responsible Care Supply Chain Partner companies in the USA,” said Dave Gleason, senior director of Responsible Care for the American Chemistry Council. “Partnering in Responsible Care requires Transplace to commit to the EHS&S management discipline embodied in the program and proven to enable continual improvement in EHS&S performance both by ACC members (i.e., manufacturers) and Responsible Care Partners operating within the chemical industry value chain.”
As part of its participation in the Responsible Care Partnership Program, Transplace must demonstrate conformance to the requirements as part of their overall Responsible Care obligations, which are determined through an independent third-party audit conducted according to established ACC procedures. Transplace is committed to uphold the four pillars of the Responsible Care program, which are:
- Adhering to the Responsible Care Guiding Principles
- Implementing the Responsible Care Product Safety Code, Process Safety Code, and Security Code
- Measuring and publicly reporting performance using the Responsible Care Performance Measures
- Applying the modern Responsible Care Management System to achieve and verify results
“Participation in the Responsible Care program demonstrates Transplace Chemical Logistics’ commitment to promoting safe and environmental performance in the chemical industry,” said Frank McGuigan, president, transportation management, Transplace. “By partnering with the American Chemistry Council, we are further ensuring that we have the optimal processes in place to carefully and efficiently manage the transportation of chemicals around the country.”
