Transportation TIP List: Week of June 11th, 2017

According to a recent report by the National Retail Federation, clothes, electronics and home improvement supplies are a few top sellers that dads may be gifted this Father’s Day weekend. And just as retail will leave its mark on “Dad’s Day,” it’s also featured in this week’s TIP List, which includes articles about innovative supply chain technologies and the impact of e-commerce on retail.

  • Why the Last 10 Years Were Retail’s “Lost Decade”: The last 10 years have been the equivalent of a “lost decade” for retail. As Amazon has risen, traditional retailers have been slow to meet the needs of digital customers and have lost a tremendous amount of market value as a result.
  • Cross-Border Logistics: NAFTA Tune-Up Time: Trucking executives, transportation officials and shippers have enjoyed 400% growth in cross-border trade since the start of NAFTA. However, many are concerned that Washington’s impulsive moves could threaten the open borders that connect North America.
