US electronic logging rule could shunt freight to LTL carriers

Some rucking companies and truck drivers in the United States dread the electronic logging mandate, but not all. For less-than-truckload operators such as Old Dominion Freight Line, the federal requirement that takes effect this coming December may spell opportunity. The CEO of ODFL believes even a slight tightening of truckload capacity toward the end of this year could fill more LTL trailers with freight, especially if the US economy expansion gains steam in 2017.
