Dedicated trucking demand drives J.B. Hunt
“We see a lot of interest in dedicated fleets,” Ben Cubitt, vice president of transportation solutions at logistics company Transplace, said Thursday. “I have a conversation almost every week with a shipper about trying to identify more freight they can move to dedicated.”
Dedicated trucking not only shifts the cost of purchasing equipment and hiring drivers off a shipper’s shoulders and onto a carriers but also locks in capacity, often under a longer-term contract, for the shipper. That’s something more shippers are looking to do in 2017, Cubitt said.
