Marking Further Growth in the Chemical Industry, Transplace Will Deliver Cost Savings, Enhanced Service Levels and Improved Visibility to Elementis Specialties
September 20, 2011 (Dallas, TX) – Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology, today announced that global specialty chemicals company Elementis Specialties Inc. has selected the third party logistics (3PL) provider to handle domestic transportation management including carrier management, truck tendering and freight bill reconciliation. The announcement comes on the heels of Transplace’s recent acquisition of SCO Logistics, which added significant capabilities in the chemical industry. Transplace’s goal will be to deliver cost savings, enhance service levels, improve visibility and allow the specialty chemical company to focus on more strategic projects.
Headquartered in Hightstown, New Jersey, Elementis Specialties develops and produces specialty chemicals for the coatings, consumer, oil and lubrication markets. “We’ve put a great deal of research and work into determining the right 3PL partner for Elementis Specialties in North America,” commented Daniel Hughes, vice president of global supply chain and purchasing, Elementis Specialties. “With its combination of industry experience, people and technology, Transplace was clearly the right choice to play a key role in our transportation network.”
Transplace will leverage its award-winning technology to improve the daily operations of Elementis Specialties’ domestic trucking flows in North America. The 3PL will procure and manage the specialty chemicals provider’s contracts with the carrier community and will manage the Elementis freight audit and payment process. Further use of Transplace services are being considered.
“As we grow Transplace’s presence in the chemical arena, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Elementis Specialties,” said Frank McGuigan, senior vice president, Transplace. “We worked closely with Elementis to better understand its business, its requirements and how Transplace can add value.
